Jason Bangild

General Manager/ Director of Golf

503-739-5037

[email protected]

Jason grew up just north of Toronto, Canada, in the small town of Palgrave. A golf scholarship to the University of Charleston propelled his golf career, which is now in its 30th year. While at UC Jason was nominated to the Dean’s List, honored as an Academic All American, and finished as Medalist in the WVIAC South Regional Championship. In ’97 he graduated with a degree in Business Administration. He was first a member of the Canadian PGA before joining the PGA of America in 2002. While honeymooning on Maui with his wife Melissa in 2000, they decided to stay, which they did for almost 12 years. A desire to return to the mainland and be closer to family brought Melissa, Jason and young son Tyler to Gearhart. Jason has experience at Public, Resort, and Private golf clubs. He began his career with 9 years at Devil’s Pulpit Golf Association in Caledon, Ontario, and has since worked at Kapalua Plantation Course, The Club at Hokulia, and most recently as Director of Golf at the exclusive Nanea Golf Club in Kona, Hawaii. During his 8 years at Nanea, Jason was awarded Merchandiser of the Year honors twice for the Aloha Section. Jason was recently awarded the Inaugural award for Club Executive of the Year for the Oregon Golf Association, and Merchandiser of the Year for the Oregon Chapter in 2016 and 2019. He also served on the OGAGC and OGAP Board of Directors.

Sean Dolan

Head Golf Course Superintendent

503-267-9744

[email protected]

Sean was born in Greenport Long Island, New York and was raised in a small costal town much like Gearhart. After college in Suffolk County, he travelled around the country for several years as an Assistant Chef. In 1999, Sean moved to Portland and transitioned to a career in Golf. He worked as an Assistant at Riverside Golf and Country Club, and then spent 20 years at the Broadmoor Golf Course, and even lived on the 18th hole. Broadmoor is the same place where Forrest Goodling grew up working, and Forrest’s father was Superintendent. Sean landed at Gearhart Golf Links in March of 2021. After several years as Forrest’s First Assistant, he was the obvious choice to take over as Superintendent in 2026 when Forrest retired. Sean knows every inch of GGL. Through continual education with the Oregon State Turfgrass program, he is dedicated to raising the bar in terms of turf conditions and the playing experience at Gearhart. When not tending to the greens, Sean enjoys fishing, crabbing, playing golf, and when time allows, finding new places on road trips up and down the Oregon coast, or visiting his brother in Upstate New York.

Forrest Goodling

Superintendent Emeritus

503-849-9249

Forrest grew up in the Portland Metro area, and began working as a youngster with his father at Broadmoor Golf Course. He became an Assistant Superintendent at Salishan where he worked for a few years, before returning to Oregon State University to complete his Bachelor of Science degree in Turfgrass Management/Horticulture. Forrest was appointed to the Head Superintendent position at Corvallis Country Club, where he stayed for 3 years before moving to Charbonneau for 6 years. Portland Golf Club was lucky enough to have Forrest as their Head Superintendent for the next 17 years. After 14 years of dedicated service at GGL, Forrest earned his retirement. He will stay under contract as a consultant, and will work closely with new Head Superintendent Sean Dolan. In his newly found down-time, Forrest plans on hunting, playing golf, and horse packing and riding into wilderness.

Ian Goldspink

Ian is a local Oregonian, born in Astoria and raised in Gearhart. A graduate of Seaside High School, Ian spent some time in the Stage and Movie lighting business in Portland before moving back to the North Coast. There is perhaps no one who loves Gearhart Golf Links more, and Ian’s passion for both the Golf Course and the game itself are a true benefit to our team. Ian has been a loyal employee at Gearhart Golf Links for 12 years.

Casey Poore

Tournament Coordinator / Assistant Golf Professional

[email protected]

Casey joined the GGL Team in September of 2020 as golf was booming across the country. Our rounds of golf were on a steep incline, and we needed the help! Casey brings to the table excellent customer service and the computer skills needed to fine-tune our GGL App and spearhead our tournament & scoring software. He is in the apprenticeship program of the PGA of America, working his way to becoming a Class “A” PGA Member. Originally from Oregon City, Casey grew up playing golf and basketball throughout high school and played on a top-25 nationally ranked team in 2008. After spending two years at Oregon State University, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. Casey previously worked as an Assistant Golf Professional at the Wigwam Golf Club in Phoenix, AZ and The Club at Flying Horse in Colorado Springs. Outside of golf, Casey spends his time with his dog, Luna, and is an avid Portland Trail Blazers & Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Mark Davis

Lead Instructor / Assistant Golf Professional

971-601-09823

[email protected]

Mark grew up in Northern Utah playing and working at the Logan Golf & Country Club. He developed a love of the game from his parents and interest in the fundamentals of the golf swing from great PGA instructors and coaches. After an amateur career that included winning the Utah State Amateur Championship and playing collegiately at Brigham Young University, Mark graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and pursued playing and working professionally as an assistant professional at Spanish Oaks Golf Course. After 5 years and a growing family, Mark left professional golf and had a successful corporate finance and philanthropy career. However, a lifelong love of the game and interest in helping others have more fun and success playing golf brought him back into the PGA in 2019. Mark joined the staff of Alpine Country Club in Utah and resumed his professional golf career focusing on teaching while completing his master’s degree in communications with an emphasis on golf instruction in a technical age. Mark’s wife Karyn, who grew up in the Pacific Northwest, introduced Mark to the beautiful area and they began coming back regularly to the Oregon Coast in 2017. When Gearhart Golf Links had an opportunity to join the staff, Mark and Karyn jumped on the chance to trade snow for the ocean. Mark and Karyn share a family of 5 married adult kids, 6 (and counting) grandkids, and their 2 dogs named Maggie and Tillamook (aka Tilly). Mark and Karyn love sharing this beautiful area with family, friends and visitors to the PNW.

Jamie Dunnam

Caddie Master/Assistant Golf Professional

[email protected]

Jamie was born and raised in the South Bay of California. He grew up swimming and playing water polo through college and didn’t find golf until later in life. Once he did, he was hooked. He spent every possible moment trying to get in as many rounds or as much practice as he could. Jamie moved to Portland in 2018 and began working at Langdon Farms, becoming the Outside Service Supervisor managing the cart fleet and the Outside Service staff. As the Californian he is, the ocean was always calling his name and when the opportunity to move to the coast came up, he and his wife jumped at the chance. When not splitting his time between the golf shop and the turf crew, you can usually find him on the beach running around with their two dogs, trying to sneak in a quick 9, or watching some hockey on the tv.
